Cultural Routes of Switzerland - Winner of Prix Evenir

Cultural Routes of Switzerland is the winner of this years Prix Evenir. The project offers a new way to discover the cultural landscape of Switzerland: carefree hiking, eating and drinking pleasurably, stylish overnight stays; all this while experiencing the beauty of Switzerland with each of one's senses.

Cultural Routes of Switzerland is based on a network of twelve Via routes and an increasing number of ViaRegio routes, all on historical paths and roads. They link local initiatives, cultural and natural scenic attractions, and offers of regional specialities.

Innovative Swiss Tourism
The purpose of Cultural Routes of Switzerland is to conserve and protect historic traffic routes through adequate use and professional maintenance. This tourism programme also links regional and local tourism initiatives; with its promotion of regional products it contributes to sustainable agriculture. In the medium term the project generates a considerable added value averaging 150 to 180 million Swiss Francs per year. On the social level Culture ways Switzerland helps to integrate marginal regions. The routes lead to the furthest valleys and thus strengthen peripheral regions whose populations are economically and socially disadvantaged.
