Women and Men - together to end violence against women

Today, on International Human Rights Day, we draw attention to one of the most serious human rights violations: violence against women. It threatens the sustainable and equitable development here in Switzerland as well as in developing countries.

... supports with donations long-term, taboo-breaking programs which eliminate discrimination. Endangered women will be better protected, victims supported, perpertrators jailed.
... publisizes in Switzerland and is committed to law, justice and victim support - both locally and in developing countries.
... conducts an annual 16-day information campaign Activism against Gender Violence - the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women from November 25 till the International Humans Rights day on December 10.

With your contribution we can promote and support the UNIFEM programs in Switzerland. These programs are implemented on site together with governments, NGOs and local citizens.

An example in Ethiopia: Women tell the story. Women need to know what to do and what their rights are when they suffer violence. Together with women lawyers, UNIFEM has supported hundreds of women.

An example in Nepal: Men reassess traditions. UNIFEM supports interreligious dialogue. The opinions of religious leaders are important, when the subject is "men reassessing traditions" which inpinge on the integrity of women and girls.
